FRENCH INTERLOCKING ROOF TILE

French Roof Tile Marselha

Sometimes known in North America as a "French profile", the French tiles offered by Northern Roof Tiles are interlocking and available in attractive neutral colors.

"French tile or Marselha tile" was based on a design created by the French Gilardoni Brothers in 1850. Later a group of manufacturers in Marseille, France – refined the original design and commercialized large numbers of the new interlocking tile. The tiles were enormously popular outside of France, and were exported all over the world. Gray clay tile was primarily used in Europe and red clay tile or terracotta roof tile in Latin American and the colonies.

Color Blends

This is an interesting use of a blend of colors on a new building in Bilbao in Spain

Installed on Metal Battens

This is where they are attached by wire.

This used to be a very common way Ludowici French were installed and they used the wrong type of wire and it formed condensation and rotted out the back of the tile. The surface looked great but as soon as you pressed on the tile it would crumble
