LOOKING FOR TRADITIONAL ENGLISH CLAY ROOF TILES?
HOW ABOUT 215 YEARS OF HISTORY AND TRADITION?
WE ARE EXTREMELY PROUD TO PRESENT DREADNOUGHT TILES - SINCE 1805

In 1805 Mr. Hinton & Mr. Perry started making roof tiles in Brierley Hill in the West Midlands of England. Those tiles were the regular English size 10 ½” x 6 ½” and were machine made to service the growing market for smooth surface clean edged tiles...just like they make today.
The Dreadnought tiles made today are not that different from those made by the company over 200 years ago. They might be delivered to your site on a diesel powered truck, or possibly electric powered in the not too distant future, as opposed to a horse drawn cart with the tiles packed in straw. But the pride in the tiles and the quality is just the same.
COLORS
Dreadnought tiles have a smooth flat surface, square cut sides and butt to give a sharp clean look to any roof. Dreadnought create then their natural shades by the delicate control of the kiln atmosphere a process
known as ‘reduction firing.’ They don’t add any surface staining or pigments, colors are created by controlling the burn, just as they have for the past 215 years.
ROUND THE BEND
Why restrict your creative designs to having your roof change direction on a regular hip when you can let the roof follow a curve?
Dreadnought Tiles’ smooth shape and clean rooftile work perfectly following the contours of your roof.
They will also ‘raise an eyebrow’ as they flow up and over dormer window.
Although the tiles will go ‘round the bend’ we promise not to send you ‘round the bend!’ when you chose Dreadnought Tiles for your next project.
SHARP EDGES
Dreadnought Tiles have a smooth surface, square cut edges and butt, which give any roof a clean look. So when you need to change direction at a hip you need an equally clean sharp edge.
No problem… we can provide Arris style hip tiles to suit any pitch which will add to the sharp clean lines immensely.
ORNAMENTALS
The Victorians loved ornamentation and Dreadnought have always offered the complete range of traditional shapes.
Ornamental shapes are available in all the regular Dreadnought colors.
STAFFORDSHIRE BLUE WITH SOLAR PANELS
Quite often solar panels can detract from the aesthetics of the roof, because they contrast so violently with the color of the tiles and your eye gets drawn to the contrast.
Perhaps you might like to consider Dreadnought’s Staffordshire Blue tiles as their coloration tends to blend more harmoniously with that of the solar panels.
