How long will tiles last?

Clay roof tiles are a long life product. Northern Roof Tiles expects its tile to last, under normal conditions, approximately 100 years.

Can my house support the weight of a clay tile roof?

If your are considering the addition of a clay tile roof to an existing home, Northern Roof Tiles suggests that you contact an architect or engineer who after an inspection can advise you on the existing load capacity.

I thought you could only use Clay Tile in Florida?

Clay tiles can safely be used in colder climates as long as they are ASTM Grade 1.  Northern Roof Tiles has each of their tiles independently tested to ensure that they meet and exceed the Grade 1 requirement.  By doing this we can be sure that the tiles will perform as expected for their lifespan.  Tiles which do not meet the Grade 1 standard should not be used in northern climates.

How long does the color last- will it fade?

The color is fired onto the tile and is permanent. However, over time pollution and dirt will build up on the surface, somewhat dulling the color, resulting in the tiles mellowing and taking on an aged patina.

What is the warranty?

The warranty for clay tiles is provided directly by the manufacturer. That warranty ranges from the first 30 to 50 years depending on the tile type.  Please contact us directly for further detailed information.
NB. Do not confuse the length of the warranty with the life expectancy of the tiles.

Do you have a local rep?

We do have agents in some areas of the country.  With the power of the internet and the help of UPS you can deal directly with us for material takeoffs, exact pricing, samples installation specifications and if necessary site visits.

Who can purchase the tile and do you offer terms?

Northern Roof Tiles allows anyone to purchase the tile directly.  Our terms are 50% upon order placement and the final 50% due when the tiles leave our warehouse for delivery.

Will you work with my architect or builder?

Northern Roof Tiles will be happy to work with any member of your design or construction team. 

Who can install your tile?

Any competent roofer can install our tiles, however, Northern Roof Tiles has spent years building relationships with roofers all over North America.  We would be happy to recommend proficient roofers who can provide your installation pricing.

Northern Roof Tiles offers a wide variety of services ranging from estimation and technical reviews of drawings, design and style consultations, technical education and training.
